OBJECTIVE

The purpose is to eliminate dead points (areas where water remains stagnant) in the water system by flushing all taps, showers, and reservoirs in rooms that have been vacant for one day or more, and to record the performed procedures.

DEFINITIONS

  • Place: Areas where the water flushing process is performed.
  • Date: The date when the water flushing process is performed. (In Day/Month/Year format, e.g., 05/03/2018)
  • Sink, Shower(s) Hot-Cold Water and Reservoir: All sinks, showers’ hot and cold water taps, and reservoirs where the flushing process is performed.
  • Kitchen Hot-Cold Water: Kitchen sink hot and cold water taps where the flushing process is performed.
  • Done By: The person(s) who performed the water flushing process.

APPLICATION

  1. Ensure that water in all taps, showers, and reservoirs in rooms vacant for one day or more is flushed and these actions are recorded.
  2. The water flushing process in vacant rooms is carried out for a total of 3 - 5 minutes.
  3. The flushing process starts by opening the hot water tap.
  4. The room or room numbers where the flushing is performed are written in the Place column, and the date of the flushing is written in the Date cell next to the recorded room number.
  5. An X is marked in the Sink-Shower(s) hot-cold water and reservoir cell to record the flushing performed.
  6. If there is a kitchen in the room, hot and cold water flushing is also performed there and an X is marked in the Kitchen Hot-Cold Water cell.
  7. After each flushing, the person responsible for tracking the flushing signs their name in the Done By cell corresponding to the date to complete the record.
  8. Water in vacant rooms in blocks closed for a certain period is flushed weekly and recorded. The entire block must be closed for this procedure.
  9. When flushing water from consecutive rooms, it can be recorded as a single row in the form. (See the example filled record form)

POINTS TO BE CAREFUL ABOUT

  1. The water temperature during flushing may be high enough to cause scalding.
