Notes: The total duration of the flushing process is 3 - 5 minutes. The flushing process will start by opening the hot water tap.
OBJECTIVE
The aim is to eliminate dead points (areas where water remains stagnant) in the water system by flushing all taps, showers, and cisterns in rooms that have been vacant for one day or more, and to record the performed procedures.
DEFINITIONS
- Location: Areas where the water flushing process is performed.
- Date: The date when the water flushing process is performed. (In Day/Month/Year format, e.g., 05/03/2018)
- Sink, Shower(s) Hot-Cold Water and Flush: All sinks, showers’ hot and cold water taps, and flushes where the water flushing process is performed.
- Kitchen Hot-Cold Water: Kitchen sink hot and cold water taps where the water flushing process is performed.
- Performed By: The person(s) who perform the water flushing process.
APPLICATION
- Ensure that all taps, showers, and cisterns in rooms vacant for one day or more are flushed, and these procedures are recorded.
- The water flushing process in vacant rooms is carried out for a total of 3 - 5 minutes.
- The flushing process starts by opening the hot water tap.
- The room or room numbers where the flushing is performed are written in the Location column, and the date of the flushing is recorded in the Date cell next to the room number.
- An X is marked in the Sink-Shower(s) hot-cold water and flush cell to record the flushing performed.
- If the room has a kitchen, hot and cold water flushing is also performed there and recorded by marking an X in the Kitchen Hot-Cold Water cell.
- After each flushing operation, the person responsible for tracking the flushing signs the Performed By cell corresponding to the date to complete the record.
- Water in vacant rooms within blocks closed for a certain period is flushed weekly and recorded. The entire block must be closed for this procedure.
- When flushing water from consecutive rooms, it can be recorded as a single row in the form. (See the example filled record form)
POINTS TO BE CAREFUL ABOUT
- The water temperature during flushing may be high enough to cause scalding.
