Purpose

The aim is to remove any physical and microbiological dirt and accumulation found on and inside all shower heads and aerators within the facility (including rooms, hammam, common areas, pool and beach showers) through fine cleaning followed by disinfection, and to record the performed procedures.

Definitions

  • Date: The date when the cleaning and disinfection procedure was performed (in Day/Month/Year format, e.g., 05/03/2018).
  • Room: The room or rooms where the cleaning and disinfection procedure was performed (e.g., room number 453 or rooms between 400 - 453).
  • Shower head and shower hose Cleaning: Any cleaning procedure applied to the shower head and shower hose.
  • Shower head and shower hose Disinfection: Any disinfection procedure applied to the shower head and shower hose.
  • Performed By: The person or persons who performed the cleaning procedure.

Application

  1. Monthly or as required, descaling of shower heads, shower hoses, and aerators is performed, and weekly disinfection procedures are carried out and recorded.
  2. Shower heads, shower hoses, and faucet aerators in the areas to be cleaned and disinfected are removed and replaced with clean spares.
  3. The removed shower heads, shower hoses, and faucet aerators are disassembled and all surfaces are brushed with clean hot water; if necessary, they are placed in a descaling chemical to remove limescale.
  4. After cleaning, parts are soaked in chlorinated water or a similar disinfectant to perform disinfection.
  5. Disinfection can also be performed by washing the parts twice in dishwashers with detergent dosing pumps turned off.
  6. After cleaning and disinfection, the room number(s) where the procedure was performed are written in the empty row of the Room column, the date of the cleaning and disinfection is entered in the adjacent Date cell, and X marks are placed in the corresponding cells for cleaning and disinfection procedures performed.
  7. After cleaning and disinfection, the person responsible for tracking or performing the cleaning signs in the Performed By cell corresponding to the date to complete the record.

  • A sufficient number of shower heads, shower hoses, and faucet aerators

Points to Consider

  1. Chemicals used during cleaning may cause skin irritation and, if splashed, eye burning and irritation. Protective glasses, masks, and protective clothing may be required during cleaning procedures.
  2. Chemicals used for cleaning and disinfection may damage the coatings of shower heads and aerators.
