Everyone sometimes needs a doctor, but everyone always needs hygiene.

Purpose

The purpose is to remove any physical and microbiological contamination and accumulation found on and inside all shower heads and aerators within the facility (including rooms, hammam, common areas, pool and beach showers) through thorough cleaning followed by disinfection, and to record the performed procedures.

Definitions

  • Date: The date when the cleaning and disinfection procedure is performed (in Day/Month/Year format, e.g., 05/03/2018).
  • Room: The room(s) where the cleaning and disinfection procedure is performed (e.g., room no. 453 or rooms between 400 - 453).
  • Shower Head and Shower Hose Cleaning: Any cleaning procedure applied to the shower head and shower hose.
  • Shower Head and Shower Hose Disinfection: Any disinfection procedure applied to the shower head and shower hose.
  • Performed By: The person(s) who performed the cleaning procedure.

Application

Monthly or as required, descaling of shower heads, shower hoses, and aerators is performed, and weekly disinfection is carried out and recorded.

Shower heads, shower hoses, and faucet aerators in the areas to be cleaned and disinfected are removed and replaced with clean spares.

The removed shower heads, shower hoses, and faucet aerators are disassembled into parts, all surfaces are brushed with clean hot water, and if necessary, placed in a descaling chemical to remove limescale.

After cleaning, parts are soaked in chlorinated water or a similar disinfectant to perform disinfection. Disinfection can also be performed by running two wash cycles in dishwashers with detergent dosing pumps turned off.

After cleaning and disinfection, the room number(s) where the procedure was performed are written in the empty row of the Room column, the date of cleaning and disinfection is entered in the adjacent Date cell, and an X mark is placed in the cells corresponding to the cleaning and disinfection procedures performed.

After cleaning and disinfection, the person tracking or performing the cleaning signs in the Performed By cell corresponding to the date to complete the record.

  1. A sufficient number of shower heads, shower hoses, and faucet aerators

Points to Consider

  1. Chemicals used during cleaning may cause skin irritation and eye burning or irritation if splashed. Protective glasses, masks, and clothing may be required during cleaning.
  2. Chemicals used for cleaning and disinfection may damage the coatings of shower heads and aerators.
