Set Up a Home Office Environment

While working from home, places like sofas and couches may seem comfortable but will reduce your productivity. Always create your own quiet and comfortable environment by setting up a desk-chair arrangement in a fixed room. Customize your desk according to your needs.

When working from home, prefer wearing office clothes instead of daily home clothes; the effort we put into keeping our work clothes wrinkle-free will help keep us in an office mindset.

Manage Your Time Well

The hardest part of working from home is managing your time well. Plan your time as if you were working in the office; setting alarms for tea, coffee, and meal breaks will be beneficial. Use mobile-synchronized calendars like Google Calendar.

Process Management

You may have long-term tasks or multiple tasks that need to be tracked simultaneously and periodically. While managing this process with team members in an office environment, you may have to manage it alone at home. To follow tasks in a disciplined manner, you can use process tracking software suitable for your work.

Coffee Break and Exercise

Squats, sit-ups, and stretching exercises release happiness hormones, speed up blood circulation, and can prevent joint pain.

Computer and Network Security at Home

We recommend changing your home internet modem's management panel and Wi-Fi password to a strong password. Closing open ports on the modem is important. There may be ports left open from past situations such as remote camera viewing via the modem; please check these.

If your company has not provided a computer, it is recommended to install up-to-date antivirus software on your computer and limit unnecessary applications allowed through the firewall. A gaming computer used by children at home can be very dangerous; software such as online network sharing games, game cheats, cracks, and hacking tools may be installed.

Mobile Device Security

If you do not have a work phone provided by your company and will be doing work on your own phone, check the permissions of previously installed apps, remove or completely delete permissions to prevent access to your company's valuable data. Set a strong password on your phone; so that if you forget or lose it somewhere, data cannot be accessed.

If there are apps on your phone that back up data to overseas servers or process data with third-party software from abroad, remove their permissions. Using antivirus software is recommended.

Remote Desktop Connection

If your company does not provide a specially authorized remote desktop software on servers, it is recommended to use a remote desktop software that your company recommends and has given written permission for.

  • Use secure software (Alpemix, TeamViewer, Chrome Remote, etc.)
  • Secure it with strong encryption and password-protected screen saver
  • If you receive support from solution partners, take technical and legal measures within the scope of KVKK
  • Use a remote desktop connection password that changes every time, confidentiality agreements, and keep log records

Take Precautions Against Hacker Attacks

Your computer should be protected with up-to-date and good antivirus software. Your passwords should be strong; if connecting to a company computer, using SSL VPN is recommended.

IMPORTANT: If possible, it is recommended to connect to the office computer via a network protected by SSL VPN provided by IT and do your work this way. When working with remote desktop, log out when leaving the computer; a password-protected screen saver that activates after 3 minutes is recommended to prevent forgetting.

How VPN Works

VPN or Virtual Private Network is a secure tunnel between two or more devices. VPN software protects your online traffic from prying eyes, censorship, and interference. It protects the contents like a pipe in drinking water lines protects what is inside from external factors.

Secure Sharing and Productivity

When you need to share important files, passwords, and institution-specific confidential information with your colleagues, first use corporate email and other corporate tools. If this is not possible, use the tools your manager has recommended in writing.

Applications like Dropbox and Google Drive are secure, fast, and practical. Many people can work on the same file simultaneously and see each other's actions. (According to KVKK, transferring data to overseas servers requires personal consent.)

Change all passwords for workplace email, cloud servers, and other encrypted areas with strong passwords, and only open them from your own work computer.

Organize Online Business Meetings

Regularly organize online meetings with your colleagues and clients; platforms like Skype and Zoom have free plans and are recommended.

Since Skype and Zoom servers are located abroad, personal consent must be obtained under KVKK.
