What is the Regulation Regarding Alcoholic Beverage Packaging?
The Tobacco and Alcohol Market Regulatory Authority's “Board Decision on Amendment to the Tobacco and Alcohol Market Regulatory Board Decision Regarding Packaging Material to be Used in Alcoholic Beverage Production” was published in the Official Gazette dated 27.12.2012.
According to the decision, alcoholic beverages will be marketed domestically in packaging made of glass material, except for 5 cl alcoholic beverages offered for consumption in minibars of hotel, motel, and holiday village rooms holding beer and open alcoholic beverage sales licenses.
How?
- The obligation to offer 5 cl alcoholic beverages in glass bottles in room minibars has been removed.
- The sale of wines offered in “Bag in Box” style 20 L containers and in 1.5 L plastic bottles called “canteens” has been prohibited.
- Beer is not included within the scope.
When?
The decision has been in effect since 27/12/2012.
