Are You Receiving Environmental Management Services?
What is it?
Environmental Management Service involves preventing pollution in situations where pollution is possible, stopping pollution when it occurs, taking necessary legal, economic, and social measures to eliminate or reduce the effects of pollution, implementing the legislation issued by the Ministry related to the environment, and carrying out all procedures related to environmental management.
Who is Required to Obtain It?
- Businesses listed in Annex-2 of the Environmental Permit and License Regulation must either employ a full-time environmental officer, receive environmental management services from environmental consultancy firms, or establish an environmental management unit.
- Health institutions and hospitals with a bed capacity of 20 (twenty) or more, including inpatient and day treatment facilities, must employ at least one environmental officer, establish an environmental management unit, or receive environmental management services from environmental consultancy firms.

Where Are Hospitals and Health Institutions in the Relevant Regulation?
Hospitals and health institutions are listed in Article 10.9 of Annex-2 of the Environmental Permit and License Regulation.

The Environmental Permit and License Regulation dated 10.09.2014, numbered 29115, came into force on 01.11.2014.
What Needs to Be Done
Environmental Management Service must be obtained from "Environmental Officers" within firms that have received the "Environmental Consultancy Competency Certificate" from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, in accordance with the Regulation on Environmental Officers, Environmental Management Units, and Environmental Consultancy Firms dated 21.11.2013, numbered 28828.
