What is the Declaration of Waste Generated from the Business?

It is the notification to the ministry of the quantities of waste generated within your business (fluorescent lamps and other mercury-containing lamps, spray cans, toners, agricultural chemical wastes, paint-varnish containers, generator waste oil, waste capacitors, iron, zinc, aluminum, vegetable waste oil, medical waste, plastic, glass waste, etc.), the waste processing code, and the recovery facility.

Why?

Waste declaration is mandatory under the following regulations:

  • “Regulation on the Control of Hazardous Wastes” dated 14.03.2005, numbered 25755
  • “Notification on the Recovery of Certain Non-Hazardous Wastes” dated 17.06.2011, numbered 27967
  • “Regulation on the Control of Medical Wastes” dated 22.07.2005, numbered 25883
  • “Regulation on the Control of Vegetable Waste Oils” dated 06.06.2015, numbered 29378
  • “Waste Management Regulation” dated 02.04.2015, numbered 29314

When?

The waste declaration form must be filled out, approved, and printed using the web-based program (TABS) prepared by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, starting from January each year until the end of March, containing information related to the previous year. One copy must be kept for five years.

Where?

Businesses with a username and password in the Environmental Information System must submit their declarations at http://online.cevre.gov.tr/.

If a username and password have not been obtained before, a new registration application must be made at http://online.cevre.gov.tr/, and with the printout obtained from there, an application must be made to the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization to which the business is affiliated.

Record Keeping

A printout of the declaration form must be taken and kept for five years.

Important!

In case of non-compliance with the Waste Declaration, necessary actions are taken by the authorities specified in Articles 15 and 16 of the Environmental Law No. 2872 (Amended: 5491), and sanctions in Article 26 are applied.
