Have You Fulfilled Your Obligations Regarding Legionnaires' Disease?
What is it?
The Regulation on Procedures and Principles for the Control of Legionnaires' Disease, published in the Official Gazette dated 13.05.2015 and numbered 29354, imposes obligations on inpatient healthcare institutions and organizations.
Why?
This regulation sets out the measures to be taken to be prepared against Legionnaires' disease, to protect from the disease, and to combat the disease, as well as the procedures and principles regarding the notification of the disease.
When?
This obligation comes into effect on the date of publication of the Ministry of Health's Regulation on Procedures and Principles for the Control of Legionnaires' Disease (13.05.2015).
How?
According to the relevant regulation, the inpatient healthcare institution must:
- Create a water management plan,
- Determine responsible persons,
- Prepare a file containing routine preventive measures,
- Conduct a risk assessment,
- Regularly perform Legionella Pneumophila screening in water.
