What Does Giving Non-Hazardous Waste to Licensed Collection – Separation Companies Mean?
Non-Hazardous Waste: Wastes not marked with (*) in ANNEX-IV of the Regulation on General Principles of Waste Management. Examples:
- Metals (Including Alloys) - Copper, Bronze, Brass
- Aluminum
- Lead
- Zinc
- Iron and Steel
- Tin
- Mixed metals
- Cables not containing oil, tar, and other hazardous substances
- Iron metal shavings and chips
- Iron metal dust and particles
- Welding wastes
- End-of-life vehicles not containing liquid or hazardous substances
- Iron, steel, and non-ferrous wastes
- Non-packaging glass, plastic, and wood wastes
Why?
It falls under the scope of the "Notification on Recovery of Certain Non-Hazardous Wastes" dated 17.06.2011, numbered 27967.
How?
Non-hazardous wastes must be temporarily stored within facility boundaries in leak-proof, secure containers or similar, or in impermeable areas without mixing with each other and separately from hazardous wastes. The containers where wastes are stored must be appropriately labeled with the non-hazardous waste indication and waste code for temporary storage, and it is mandatory to send them to companies authorized by the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization with a non-hazardous waste collection-separation license.
Purpose
- To contribute to the economy from non-hazardous wastes and to ensure their recovery to reduce the amount of waste going to final disposal.
- To ensure that non-hazardous wastes are sent to companies holding a non-hazardous waste collection-separation license authorized by the Provincial Directorates, not to unauthorized intermediate collectors (scrap dealers), either for a fee or free of charge.
